Executive Summary :

This proposal aims at develop an ‘Indian Brain Template’ that would enable a comparison of brain imaging related findings from different imaging modalities specific to the Indian population. Three different MR imaging sequences with various parameters have been optimized considering various factors such as reconstructed image quality, noise levels in the image, scan acquisition time, and subject comfort during scanning. The template construction pipeline consisting of various pre-processing and post-processing steps to get a final average image of the brain has been finalized. These steps utilize various software packages including Advanced Normalization Tools (ANTs), Medical Image Processing, Analysis and Visualization (MIPAV). In addition, modifications of these processing pipelines have also been developed and verified for T2-weighted and FLAIR image sequences. A MATLAB based GUI has been created for accessing different functions and features offered by various Neuroimaging packages and toolboxes. In addition, the GUI provides an easy way to implement the brain template construction pipeline using various scripts.
