All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhopal is one of AIIMS-like apex healthcare institutes being established under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojna (PMSSY), with the aim of correcting regional imbalances in quality tertiary level healthcare in the country, and attaining self sufficiency in graduate and postgraduate medical education and training. The research themes of AIIMS Bhopal broadly includes Infectious diseases, Maternal health and child nutrition, Molecular cancer research, Viral identification and diagnosis, Neurosciences and Psychiatry, Genetic predisposition to non-communicable diseases, health care policies, toxicology, strategies for surgical interventions and stem cell biology.
