G N Ramachandran Gold Medal for Excellence in Biological Sciences & Technology

CSIR instituted this Gold Medal in 2004 in the fond memory of Prof. G N Ramachandran, a pioneer of protein chemistry and the founding father of structural biology in India for recognising excellence in the interdisciplinary field of Biological Sciences and Technology. A Gold Medal and a citation are to be presented to the awardee on 26 September, the CSIR Foundation Day. The Medal is awarded for notable and outstanding research, and conspicuously important and excellent contributions to human knowledge and progress, applied or fundamental, in the inter-disciplinary subject / field of Biological Sciences and Technology. Any citizen of India engaged in research in Biological Sciences & Technology can apply. Overseas citizen of India (OCI) and Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) working in India are also eligible. The award would be given on the basis of contributions made through work done primarily in India during the ten years, preceding the year of prize.
