A process for preparation of a catalyst useful for preparation of nicotinamide and isonicotinamide

A process for the preparation of a catalyst useful for preparation of nicotinamide isonicotinamide which comprises; reacting potassium permanganate and manganous salt solution in neutral medium as herein described by drop wise addition of aqueous solutio (0.303 to 1.125 molar) of manganous salt as herein described to aqueous solution (0.3. to 1.103 molar) of potassium permanganate at a temperature in the range of 30 to 80 degree Celsius with constant stirring for a time period in the range of 30 minutes to one hour, allowing to settle the above reaction mixture for a time period in the range of 10 to 15hours, filtering the precipitate of MnO2 and washing with distilled water, drying the precipitate in an air oven at 100°C for 3-4 hours to produce the catalyst.
